DRY CLEAN ONLY X THAI TEXTILES
#LOVEOFMYLIFEYOUVEHurtme
1ST INTERNATIONAL
THAI SILK FASHION WEEK DCO X THAI SILK
Traditional Thai textiles are pegged for its dated glamour, challenging textures and
familiar patterns. In a bid to inject relevancy, modernity and “ready towear” property onto Thai textiles, the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture enlisted helps from
9 established brands.
Dry Clean Only reinterpreted and manipulated Thai
cherished textiles with seven carefully crafted looks
that emphasised the majestic quality of Thai
textiles, highlighted their hidden adaptability, and
yet adamantly flew Dry Clean Only signature flags
without compromises.
Taking cue from Tom Ford’s 90s Gucci, the main
colour palette included splashes of purple and
green with which J Crew inspired clean constructions.
Under Dry Clean Only’s microscopic attentions to
details, Thai textiles—without losing their true
wonders—were married to vintage garments,
collectible t-shirt patchworks, camouflage and high
craftsmanships in forms of hand beadings and hand
embroideries. To assert that Thai textiles can blend
with any techniques, all beadings and embroideries
were handmade in India. Zooming in on intricate
hand details, eagles seemed to flutter their wings
while flowers moved harmoniously with the wind,
accentuating the height of high crafts and the
modern progression of Thai textiles.
Understated, from the heart, respectful and of high
crafts, the mini collection showcased youthful
modernity of Thai textiles and Dry Clean Only’s
unwavering stance.
